The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has decided not to halt construction on a Godrej Properties project in Kandivali, Mumbai, despite a request from the Central Ordnance Depot (COD) citing security concerns.

Godrej Properties’ residential project in Kandivali, Mumbai, has been given a reprieve. The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has rejected a proposal from the Central Ordnance Depot (COD) to issue a stop-work notice on the project, known as “Godrej Reserve.”

The COD, located near the project site, expressed security concerns due to the project’s proximity to their facility. They argued that central government guidelines restrict construction near defense establishments. However, MCGM apparently disagrees and has allowed construction to continue.

Godrej Properties has maintained that it possesses all necessary permissions for the project and that it adheres to regulations. The development, built on an 18.6-acre plot, is estimated to generate significant revenue for the company.

This decision by MCGM goes against the norm, as they typically comply with such requests from the defense ministry. The reasons behind MCGM’s verdict are not entirely clear at this point.
