A glimmer of hope has emerged for thousands of homebuyers in Noida after the Noida Authority cleared the revised layout plans for all Unitech projects in the city. This decision follows a years-long saga marked by delays and frustration. Previously, the Noida Authority had withheld approval due to outstanding dues of nearly Rs 11,000 crore owed by Unitech.
However, a crucial intervention by the Supreme Court in April 2024 proved to be a turning point. The court ordered the Authority to separate the issue of dues from layout approvals, prioritizing the completion of stalled projects that had left many homebuyers in limbo for over a decade.
With the layout hurdle cleared, Unitech, now overseen by a government-appointed board, can finally move forward with construction. This means the long-awaited dream of owning a home may soon become a reality for thousands of buyers who have patiently endured years of delays.
The approved layouts encompass a total of 443 acres spread across three parcels of land. While nearly 197 acres remain undeveloped, the green light for the remaining 246 acres, where a significant portion of buyers have already been allotted flats and villas, allows construction to resume in earnest. This decisive move by the Noida Authority is a positive step towards ensuring the timely delivery of homes and bringing some much-needed relief to anxious buyers.
