The Delhi High Court has intervened in a protracted legal battle between entertainment giant PVR INOX and Ansal Plaza Mall in Greater Noida. The dispute centers around the sealing of PVR INOX’s four-screen multiplex due to alleged unpaid government dues by the mall owner, Sheetal Ansal.
PVR INOX had sought the court’s intervention to appoint an arbitrator to resolve the matter, claiming significant financial losses due to the closure of the multiplex. The company argued that the dispute falls within the purview of the arbitration clause enshrined in the lease agreement signed with Sheetal Ansal in 2018.
Upholding PVR INOX’s plea, the Delhi High Court has appointed an arbitrator to adjudicate the claims made by the multiplex chain. The court’s order marks a crucial development in the case, potentially paving the way for a swift resolution to the dispute.
With the appointment of an arbitrator, the parties involved will now engage in arbitration proceedings to determine the merits of the case and arrive at a mutually agreeable settlement.
