The cumbersome process of obtaining building plan approvals in Bengaluru is undergoing a significant transformation. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar recently unveiled the “Nambike Nakshe” (Faith Map) scheme, an online platform that promises to streamline construction permits for properties up to 4,000 square feet within the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits.
Previously, securing building approvals involved navigating a complex maze of paperwork and numerous in-person visits to BBMP offices. This often led to delays, frustration, and potential roadblocks for property owners. Recognizing these challenges, the “Nambike Nakshe” initiative seeks to revolutionize the process by enabling online plan submissions.
The new system allows applicants to submit their building plans electronically once they have been reviewed and approved by an authorized architect or engineer. This online upload eliminates the need for multiple visits to BBMP offices and significantly reduces processing time. The scheme was initially piloted in two zones and has now been expanded to cover the entire BBMP jurisdiction.
The launch of “Nambike Nakshe” marks a significant step towards citizen-centric governance in Bengaluru. This digital transformation will not only expedite construction projects but also enhance transparency and accountability within the BBMP system. Applicants can now track the progress of their submissions online, minimizing the potential for delays or administrative hiccups.
