New Delhi: In a bid to streamline property transactions and enhance transparency, Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena has issued a directive to officials to expedite the registration of all properties in the city under the National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS). The deadline for this comprehensive registration has been set for January 2025.
The implementation of NGDRS across all 22 sub-registrar offices in Delhi has already yielded positive results, with over 2.31 lakh properties registered under the system. To further optimize the process, the LG has instructed officials to integrate property databases of key agencies such as the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) with NGDRS.
By integrating these databases, the government aims to create a unified platform for property-related information, thereby reducing processing time, minimizing paperwork, and enhancing citizen convenience. This initiative is also expected to deter fraudulent activities and corruption by providing a transparent and auditable system for property transactions.
The LG’s push for a faceless property registration system is a significant step towards modernizing Delhi’s real estate sector and improving the overall governance of property-related matters.
