Goa CM rejects residential project on Zuari Agro land, vows investigation, and seeks legal advice to prevent land-use change.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has categorically ruled out the possibility of converting industrial land owned by Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd in Sancoale into a residential complex. This decisive stance comes in direct response to public outcry and allegations of irregularities surrounding a proposed housing project by House of Lodha on the same plot.

Estimated to be worth over Rs 50,000 crore, the proposed development has sparked widespread controversy and accusations of a major scam. The Chief Minister has pledged a thorough investigation into the matter to address public concerns and ensure transparency.

Sawant has made it unequivocally clear that the land in question will retain its industrial zoning. The government is currently seeking legal counsel to solidify its position and explore all available options to prevent any attempt to change the land’s designated use.

This decision reflects the state government’s commitment to preserving Goa’s environment and upholding its land-use regulations. By taking a strong stand against the proposed residential project, the Chief Minister has demonstrated the government’s determination to protect the interests of the people and maintain the integrity of the state’s development plans.
