A proposed mega-project by Bhutani Infra in Goa’s Sancoale village has hit a roadblock. The Sancoale Panchayat, the local governing body, has unanimously resolved to issue a show-cause notice to the developer. This action comes amidst concerns raised by residents and activists regarding potential violations of planning and development regulations.

The crux of the issue lies in the fulfillment of mandatory approvals and documents. The panchayat alleges that Bhutani Infra may not possess all the necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from relevant government departments, including the Indian Navy due to the project’s proximity to the Goa International Airport. Additionally, questions have been raised regarding the project’s compliance with the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA) regulations.

The show-cause notice compels Bhutani Infra to present the required documents and permissions within a seven-day timeframe. Failure to comply could result in the revocation of the construction license granted to the project. This development highlights the growing scrutiny faced by large-scale real estate projects in Goa, particularly those impacting local communities and environmental considerations.

The Sancoale Panchayat’s stance reflects the concerns of residents who have expressed apprehension about the project’s potential impact on the environment, traffic congestion, and the overall character of their village. With the show-cause notice issued, the fate of the Bhutani Infra project hinges on its ability to demonstrate adherence to established regulations and address the concerns raised by the local community.
